Heres my bike, built up a few months ago but updated just recently.

Inpulse Blast X frame kit- 26" frame and fork with headset, Ti BB, foam grips, and integrated bashguard. Some TrialTech parts- SL cranks, carbon handlebars, Carthy pedals, sport lite hubs, nrake hose, and Ti half bash ring (yes, 2 bash guards, I love it). A few Echo parts- rims, brake clamps, stem spacers, and Ti 15t rear sprocket. Brakes- Magura HS33+Racingline pistons, Clean springs, Magura slaves, and TNN ADM (black) pads+aluminum backers. Heatsink ultralight tensioner SRAM 10spd chain Monty 135 click 18t freewheel Jitsie tires and rim strips Hashtagg twin ring stem Ti bolts (mostly rainbow haha) throughout Forte schrader tubes + green slime

Josh that thing looks awesome! What do you think of the geometry? Can you pull the bike to the rear wheel without a pedal kick? How does it bunnyhop and manual?

I love the lower bb and shorter wheel base (about 1080mm and +60bb) much more stable than my last two (which were both closer to normal for 26" bikes these days at around 1090mm and +70) with two wheels down, and it does fine on the rear still. Bunny hops are Ok still a funny slow exaggerated motion almost like a short manual to bunny hop. and I can't manual worth crap so wrong guy to ask on that one! also much more confident feeling when going to the front than any other bike I've ridden.

Thing is pimping!! Very scared about your chain choice...

man I've broken some KMC chains... never broken a SRAM. I used their single speed chain for a long while and the 8spd (or 9spd?) and 10spd are the same links with just shorter pins and rollers than the single speed... and just seems to me the shorter pins would have less leverage/flex so possibly stronger while also a tiny bit lighter. the 10spd was too tight on a Jitsie ffw but fits the Monty perfectly. truth is I haven't tried any others for trials.

What KMC chains have you broken!? I've never seen a 610 break, it's the only chain I would ever run.

15 years ago sram or shimano chains was a guaranteed face splatter...

not sure of model numbers... one came on my stock Zoo! (in fairness every part of that bike was thoroughly used when I got it). The second came on my Onza (via tarty's bike builder) and lasted about 6 months of a couple rides a week.

I broke a 3/32 this week in a show. It was only a few weeks old, I think I probably did a crappy job inserting the pin. When I take my bike out I'm going to check the chainline again. Broken a few chains lately and its really scary! Thank God I haven't really hurt myself anytime I have done it.

Going to 1/8 chains and never looking back. The extra width of the pins won't make it weaker as the force is applied to the center and it's supported on both ends.

  • Purchased this in 2014 with the intention of getting into trials. Broke my collarbone on my roadie and never got very far with trials. I'm back at it again, this time with my 10 year old daughter who rides a mod.
  • After being off any type of trials riding for 6 or 7 years, getting back in the saddle in order to teach my 5 years old. Surprisingly still feel comfortable on the bike. Was on Observed trials forums years ago, but does not seem to be any activity over there anymore.
