Mammoth 2001 - July 20, 2001 Report by Stephen Maeder The bike trials competition up in beautiful Mammoth Lakes, California went great! Big sections, great weather... This event is always a good one to make it to. I didn't have the best time, though, as I got food poisoning and became so ill that I couldn't even film the entire competition, much less ride in it (expert mod). Due to my illness, I completely missed the speed trials on Saturday, but I heard it was fun, and that Jeff Lenosky won. I got to talk a bit with Jeff, especially about the whole Schwinn being bought out (possibly) by Haro thing... He's not quite sure if he'll have a job in a month or so, but isn't worried, as he graduated from college and has the skills to make a living... He also talked at length about Contact, and how much of a ruckus it raised in the trials community (it didn't have enough "pure" trials for some people, apparently). He went on and on about how cool non-trials bike riders thought it was that you could do those sorts of tricks (skatepark stuff) on mountain bikes... Anyway, enjoy some video of Tom Nebb from the competition for now... Video
